In 2015, Rothley Community Library was funded initially by the local authority with a generous donation from Rothley Parish Council to help to get the Library up and running. This funding has been supplemented through the fundraising efforts of volunteers. The local authority funding has decreased year on year and by 2022 this funding will no longer be available. The Library will then be faced with the challenge of becoming financially self supporting.
As well as supporting us by coming along to events, helping to organise events and assisting with funding applications, donations of money are also very welcome using either the donation box in the library using the gift aid envelopes or making a donation online using the 'make a donation' link on this page. Donations of book are also always welcome, these are sold to raise funds towards our running costs.
Another way to support the Library is to choose Rothley Community Library as your nominated charity in the weekly Charnwood Community Lottery. To find out more just click the Charnwood Community Lottery button below. Approximately 20 supporters of the library currently take part in the lottery and over the course of a year that will raise a little over £500 which will be put towards the running costs of the library - many thanks to those supporters!
The lottery is currently subscribed to by over 40 local causes in the Charnwood area, including community libraries, swimming clubs, history groups, scout groups, play groups, community centres, village halls and choirs. The sum of 50p from each £1 spent on the lottery goes to the nominated cause of the individual buying the ticket. Every ticket has a 1 in 50 chance of winning a prize each week. That's a better chance of winning than the National Lottery or the Health Lottery. The prizes range from 3 free tickets, £25, £250, £2,000 and the top prize is £25,000! The draw happens every Saturday night and you get notified by email if you have won and with the draw results.
