Support Your Library
Rothley Community Library is run entirely by volunteers. Your support — in time or in kind — keeps us going for the whole village.
A Library Change Lives
In these increasingly online times, when so many people live and work alone, libraries are ever more important.
Rothley Community Library is much more than a place to borrow books. It's a lifeline for people who are lonely, a place for children to discover a love of reading, a home for our Book Group, Walking Groups and Chess Club, and a community hub that brings the village together every autumn for the Scarecrow Trail.
Every volunteer hour, every donated book, and every kind word of support helps us to keep our doors open for everyone — free of charge, no questions asked.
We are entirely self-funded and volunteer-run. Without your support, we simply couldn't exist.
Volunteer With Us
No experience necessary. Just a warm heart and a willingness to help — we'll do the rest.
Get in Touch
Drop us an email or pop in during opening hours to express your interest. Tell us a little about yourself and what you might enjoy doing.
Meet the Team
We'll invite you for an informal chat to talk about what we do, find out your interests, and find the best role for you. No formal interview — just a friendly conversation over a cup of tea.
Join the Family
Once you're happy, we'll get you started with a simple induction and pair you with an experienced volunteer. You'll join around 50 others who already give their time to the library.

Share Your Books
Have books gathering dust at home? Donate them to us! We gratefully accept donations of good-condition books across all genres.
Donated books go on to our shelves to be loved again, or are sold to raise funds for the library. Either way, they go to a very good home.
- Good condition books (no water damage, heavy wear, or missing pages)
- Fiction and non-fiction for all ages
- DVDs, audiobooks and puzzles (please ask first)
Simply bring your donations in a bag during our opening hours. Our team will sort through them gratefully.
