Rothley Community Library

December newsletter

It might be winter, but there’s lots going on at the library – looking at efficient maintenance of the building, making changes to the area behind the counter and in the car park, celebrating national events like Harry Potter night, redesigning the website and lots more.
Thanks for your support in keeping the library open – if you’d like to get more involved, get in touch with us at, phone on 0116 2376162 or pop in and talk to one of the team.
The library will be open on Christmas Eve for last-minute borrowing, and on New Year’s Eve too. There will be mincepies in the library the week before Christmas for anyone who calls in! And colouring and craft activities ready for children. So join us to celebrate Rothley Christmas.

The library has reported back to the County Council to show how we have used their funds and how we have performed since opening in October 2015.

Some of the figures included in the report are shown here and make for great reading.

October* includes Book Sale visitors
Monthly average      520
Total no. of visits since Jan ’16   (10 months)  5202
The Library has been transformed from a relatively dull place to one full of colour and vibrancy.  Generosity by local people who support the library is outstanding. This is reflected in many ways. People give up their valuable time and use their skills to provide services for others, and support the library by attending the diverse programme of activities including book sales, major fund raising evenings, a monthly film club for senior citizens, under 5s sessions etc.  Some 2561 people have attended events organised by the library.
On behalf of all the trustees of the library I would like to thank you for your fantastic support through the year and I wish you a happy Christmas and many good wishes for 2017.
Steve Mitchell
