It’s October, and this month the library celebrates its first birthday – a year since the Grand Opening! It seems an age ago, and five minutes too. We’ve made it through the year without having to close once through lack of people. There’s also a lot going on, as you’ll see from this month’s news. This is a good time to come and join the team, we’re recruiting and there’ll be full training. Welcome to two new team members who’ve just started.
The Race Evening went down a storm at the Rothley Centre, and it could become an annual fixture. About £570 was raised for the library, a fantastic result for a very good evening. Thanks to everyone who made it happen, and particularly to all our local businesses who sponsored races and gave very appealing raffle prizes: Corts, Dolce & Verde, the Woodies, Rothley Court Hotel, Cuppas, Gavin Taylor Haridressing, the Post Office, the Fish & Chip Shop, Elan, The Flower Shop and Phoenix-risen Cards.
There’s a flyer for new residents in Rothley, which will go out to as many people moving into the village as possible. If someone new moves in next door to you, let us know or better still, drop in and pick up a flyer for them.
You can also drop in and have a look at our new Wellbeing display and the Books on Prescription. They’re available to borrow too, so instead of going to Dr Google, find something that’s recommended by health professionals and gives you the full picture. There’s a section for young adults, too.
Our AGM is on Friday 14th from 7pm-8pm, and we’ll really appreciate you being there if you can make it. You can find out how we’re doing and help us move forward – and there’ll be a glass of wine and nibbles too. Let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org. Nominations are open for spaces on the board of trustees – please think about joining the board. More information on the website.
Special request We’re looking for someone who could keep archives of our events, posters, displays, photos etc. – it’d be great if you’re also interested in doing photography at events, but that’s not essential. Contact Sue if you’re interested.
